Members of the campus community are invited to attend the 2018 UW Teaching Academy Fall Kickoff, “Fostering the Wisconsin Experience: Intellectual Confidence” on Friday, September 28, from 8am-noon in Varsity Hall, Union South.
Attendees will enjoy a light breakfast and gather for a morning of conversation and activity on the topic of Fostering Intellectual Confidence. Co-chairs of the Teaching Academy, John Zumbrunnen and Sue Wenker, will welcome attendees, followed by a keynote by Michael Wagner, associate professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, who developed a class on fact-checking and separating truth from spin. He also co-created The Observatory, a student-run fact-checking website. After, attendees will engage in an activity led by Don Gillian-Daniel, associate director of the Delta Program and Anne Lynn Gillian-Daniel, director of MRSEC.
