New funding opportunities for teaching and learning innovations

The Educational Innovation (EI) Initiative is offering faculty and instructors multiple funding opportunities to support various educational innovations in teaching and learning.

New this year, the EI Initiative is now providing a single-entry point for online course development support. As the campus looks to better support increasing enrollment demands, to expand access for all learner audiences and to provide enhanced learning experiences for students, particularly in their majors/career fields, EI is committed to supporting and scaling high-quality, online academic learning opportunities across campus.

Additionally, faculty and instructors can take advantage of Summer Term Igniter Funds (also new this year) and the EI Small Grant Program.

Funding Opportunities

The standard award amount for all three opportunities is $15,000.

  • Online Course Development Funds – new this year, these funds are available to support online course development for courses taught during any term (fall, spring or summer). Faculty and instructors will receive tools, training and resources, and be paired with an instructional technologist as part of the design, development and production process.   • Summer Term Igniter Funds – also new this year, this opportunity reflects the new initiatives and goals for Summer Term, and aims to ignite innovation in the areas of pre-college, early start and research in summer courses or programming. There will be two rounds of calls for proposals – one in fall 2017 and the other in spring 2018. Learn more.
  • EI Small Grant Program – back again for another year, the program will focus on supporting blended and active learning, Open Educational Resources (OER) and assessment at the course level. Proposals due Monday, Oct. 23. Learn more.
